“Trail Scout”

Larger than life Bronze Monument of
James Butler ”Wild Bill” Hickok and Black Nell

–Shawnee, Kansas–

In his early twenties, Wild Bill lived and worked in and near Shawnee Kansas as a constable and trail scout for wagon trains heading West. He had a somewhat legendary partner in his horse named Black Nell, said to be very smart, once climbing up on a pool table in a saloon at Hickok’s bidding. Research led me to believe she was most likely a Morgan, so I sculpted her as such.

I am very honored to have been commissioned to create a monument to this icon of the Old West.
